CONTROL SYSTEM FOR HYDRO TURBINE IN BRADFORD ON AVON (A&R HYDRO)
Exciting control project in the current renewable energy climate working with Martin Tarrant of ATL Hydro who conceived, designed and built this 50KW turbine himself.
Completely autonomous system capable of starting up, going ‘On Line’ with the Grid. Controlling the Turbine blade pitch and Wicket gate variable opening positions to maximise the turbine electrical output, and shutting itself down when the water level drops to a predetermined height. The system sends out emails or SMS texts to a number of people when any event which causes a shutdown occurs and similarly when the Turbine starts.
